Laser Gum Treatment in Sushant Lok, Gurugram
Gums that bleed when you brush, feel sore or look swollen are usually inflamed, and left alone the problem can loosen teeth over time. Laser gum treatment removes infected tissue and seals the gums with a dental laser instead of a scalpel, with little bleeding and quick healing. At Modenta Dental Clinic in Sushant Lok Phase 1, Sector 43, Gurugram, it is carried out by Dr Aarti Trakroo, who holds a diploma in laser dentistry from SOLA, Vienna.

What laser gum treatment is
Plaque and tartar along and below the gum line irritate the gums, which become red, puffy and quick to bleed. In gum disease, small pockets form between the gums and teeth where bacteria collect. After a thorough cleaning, the laser removes the infected lining of those pockets and helps the gums heal back against the teeth. The same laser is used to even out dark gums (gum depigmentation) and to reshape a gummy smile.
Who it suits, and the alternatives
It suits people with bleeding or swollen gums, gum pockets found at a check-up, bad breath linked to gum disease, or gums that look dark or uneven. Mild gum inflammation may need only a professional clean and a better home routine, so the examination comes first. Advanced gum disease with bone loss may need further treatment, and you are told plainly what your gums need.
What happens, visit by visit
- Gum check. Each tooth's gums are checked for bleeding, swelling and pocket depth, with X-rays where bone loss is suspected.
- Cleaning. Tartar above and below the gum line is removed, under local anaesthetic where needed.
- Laser treatment. The laser removes infected tissue and seals the area, usually with little or no bleeding and no stitches.
- Review. A follow-up visit checks healing, and you leave with a simple home routine.
Recovery and aftercare
Most people go back to normal activities the same day. The gums may feel tender for a day or two; eat soft food and avoid very hot or spicy dishes until they settle. Brush gently, use floss or interdental brushes as shown, and keep regular cleaning visits so the problem does not come back. Smoking slows gum healing, so cutting down helps.

Frequently asked questions
Why do my gums bleed when I brush?
Usually because plaque along the gum line has inflamed them. It is common and treatable, but bleeding that does not stop with better brushing needs a dental check.
Is laser gum treatment painful?
Most people find it comfortable. Local anaesthetic is used where needed, and the laser seals as it works, so there is little bleeding and quick healing.
Can dark gums be made lighter?
Yes. Laser gum depigmentation removes the dark outer layer so the gums heal to a lighter, more even colour.
Will the problem come back?
It can if plaque builds up again. A good home routine and regular cleaning visits keep the gums healthy.
